Firstly, take a stop at the South gate of Angkor Thom, or Tonle Om Gate, is one of the five ancient gates dated to the 12th century providing access through the 8m high laterite walls of the great city. The south gate of Angkor Thom is a very famous spot within Angkor Archeological Park and one that shouldn’t be missed. Standing on the causeway, and admiring the sheer scale, as you find yourself drifting back in time to imagine how it must have felt to approach this spectacular city in its heydey is quite simply an experience you will hold forever.

Approaching Angkor Thom you are first met by the grand causeway that crosses the 100 meters wide moat which is flanked on either side by a naga balustrade beginning with a massive stone carving of a seven-headed Naga (mythical serpent) being held by a multi-armed and multi-headed giant. On each side, there are 54 stone giants pulling on the body of the Naga serpent. Then continue your trip to the center of the city and you will be fascinated with the smiling faces which are atop of the towers of Bayon.

The temple is a richly decorated Khmer temple related to Buddhism at Angkor. It was built in the late 12th or early 13th century as the state temple of the King Jayavarman VII. Bayon stands at the centre of Jayavarman’s capital, the great city of Angkor Thom. Tour around and follow your guide from the lower to the upper tier and keep reminding yourself on your step. You are recommended to self enjoy the view to the faces and capture the smiles for your memory back home.

Follow your guide who will lead you to walk down at the northstairs and continue straight to visit the nearby temple and connect yourself to the peace and the moment of calm smiles by just taking a few minutes looking back to Bayon towels as you are leaving.

Afternoon, visit the highlight temple and the masterpieces in Angkor group, Angkor Wat. The majestic temples in the northwest of Cambodia is a Unesco World Heritage and top of the historic hit list for many travelers to Cambodia and Southeast Asia. The temple was built by the King Suryavarman II (1113–50), is the earthly representation of Mount Meru, the Mount Olympus of the Hindu faith, and the abode of ancient gods. The Khmer god-kings of old each strove to better their ancestors‘ structures in size, scale, and symmetry, culminating in what is believed to be the world’s largest religious building.

Breakfast, Drive to Tonle Sap lake is the heart of Cambodians, the giant freshwater lake hosts a number of floating villages. Adapting completely to the nature of the environment they live in, locals spend most of their lives floating on the water. This water is their primary source of life and food in their homes. The communities living on the lake represent a combination of movable houses and permanent structures. The movable houses comprise in the floating villages – floating market, primary schools, hospital, fish farm and they all can be relocated when the water levels rise or recede. The stilted villages, on the other hand, are constructed as permanent structures. The tall, thin stilts that hold the house high enough, to keep the household dry during the wet season. The exceptionally long ladders are made to reach the water when the level is low. However, the moveable houses are floating on the bamboo.
