Currency & Automated Teller Machine in Cambodia:

The local currency is the Cambodian Riel. However, US Dollar is widely accepted and easily exchanged across the country. In larger city and town, most goods and services are priced in US dollar and it is necessary to buy some riels as it’s used for the change below 1 (one) dollar. In more remote areas, prices are quoted in riels (except for accommodation). In some districts or small town, particularly at Poipet, Pailin and Koh Kong, Thai Baht is widely used and very popular. Travelers’ Cheque in US Dollar can be changed at most banks in the capital city Phnom Penh and Siem Reap as well as in all major tourist destinations. Credit cards are well accepted in all major tourist destinations. Although, it is advisable to carry some US Dollar in cash.

Most commercial banks have their ATMs services and also offer international access for withdrawals at a Fee. The number of ATMS currently is increasing with the update technology and allowing for Self-Cash deposit and Cash Withdrawal at almost at every ATMs stations of the commercial banks in the regions and you can do the transactions for both Khmer Riels and US dollar.
